Sushi Sei

Okay here goes, for us Jakarta people, we know that the fast food for a good affordable Japanese food is the branch of "Sushi Tei" Restaurant that originated from Singapore. Who would complain, even i say its a good restaurant, it has a Japanese atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in an actual Japanese restaurant, the food are simply delicious for a very good price and the service is also really great. But then again, this is the main place people would go to for a Japanese food, but then again we should see in a larger perspective because there are other places with even a better Japanese food than Sushi Tei. The place that i went has always been my favorite Japanese restaurant since i was a kid living here. The place is in Plaza Senayan 4th floor across the most famous club in Jakarta, X2. The restaurant is called "Sushi Sei", i am not sure about the similarities of the names but this restaurant has been here way before the branch of Sushi tei has been in Jakarta. Decoration wise, definitely this place is better, the place has a very traditional concept of a Japanese restaurant so they even have the semi private room decorated like a real Japanese restaurant where you have to kneel down to sit and eat like Japanese people. I have been craving for a Salmon Teriyaki so i ordered the menu set, they have everything starting from the 2 piece of salmon teriyaki with this amazingly sweet soy sauce, radish and vegetables, chawan mushi, rice, and miso soup. My dad was very nice that he gave the head of Hamachi(Yellow Tail), i love the head of the fish, especially yellow tail because the best part of a fish is the head, stomach and the fin. The eye is extremely good too, its so juicy and tender. I also have a uni nigiri sushi, its literally translated as "sea urchin". Oddly i think its good, even though i do not know anybody in Jakarta except my sister who likes this food too. The taste, well how could i describe it, its soft, sweet but salty but has this new taste that i have never found in other Japanese foods which is why i like it. But then this nigiri sushi is the most expensive sushi i have ever ordered, but then it was so worth it! Overall i think this place is much better than sushi tei but the price is much more pricey than Sushi Tei, i would recommend going to this place with your family than your friends because then you don't have to pay for it.

Canteen Plaza Indonesia

Im sure you all have heard one of the most visited bookstores in our city called Aksara. The bookstore sells unique merchandises and books that is worth to be visited. Anyways the food that i tried this time is the restaurant connected to it in Plaza Indonesia called "canteen". The Canteen in Plaza Indonesia offeres a mixture of classy gourmet style of European and Asian food along with a wide selection of cocktails, wine and spirits.Or at least that is what the waiters told me about the place. I ordered the menu set which consists of this European food that consists of this creamy sauce filled with pasta and spinach that was blend together. Now, i really do love a creamy pasta but this one is really good, the cream was light which doesn't really make you nauseous and the combination of the cream with spinach was divine, one might say. I ate it with a red wine which makes it good somehow because i enjoy food with wine, it makes you feel warm and has this sweet after taste which shows that the wine is high quality. Then i also tried my friends food, he is a big fan of Nasi goreng (fried rice), his food wasn't bad either, the chicken that goes with the fresh taste of the nasi goreng proves a good combination. For the dessert we have a chocolate melt, now him and i are a fan of sweet things and as usual the chocolate cake with chocolate sauce wrapped inside it makes it warm with the outer layer combined, words cannot describe it, its just pure good and to top off combined with the vanilla ice cream just makes everything perfect about a dessert.

Kafe Betawi

When i got back to Jakarta, unfortunately i was sick for 2 days and did not eat properly. After i thought i was getting better i went to Kafe betawi to get to some good food, i ordered the iga kambing bakar, babat goreng, emping satu porsi and a rice. Man i ate so much but i didnt care, i was just THAT hungry. The iga kambing was superb, i didnt expect it was that good, the meat was tender, the taste of the lamb was really meat-y, dont know if thats a proper word and they gave me a lump of fat, i didnt care and i just kept eating and eating. The babat goreng is good also and i just learned that "babat" is actually the part of meat from the stomach from a cattle and the one i ate was fried. I dont know why i like the weird parts of the body but its just good. The meat is so juicy and plump not to mention i love the texture. I love the emping which is a snack that is made from biji melinjo that is crushed and then shaped will dried under the sun. The taste is just like a krupuk and i love it when you mixed it with soup which becomes soggy and has absorbed the taste of the soup. The drink that i had of course was teh botol, my favorite classic Indonesian drink! Well i enjoyed eating it but the day after that i got sick again, oh well it was so worth it!

Bali Trip 6 "Bubba Gump"

This will be my last Bali trip food, Bali was the perfect summer anyone needed to get their tension off and just a good break to have with friends. For the past 5 days, i have enjoyed my days in Bali, there was the occasional dramas, good food, watched the sunrise, had an all night party, good late night chats with special people and of course got a good deal of tan, lots of laughs and got to just chill. The food that i chose for my personal project is a restaurant that i really like that is called Bubba Gump and located in Kuta Square. My friends were all hungry so decided to order loads of appetizers and i also ordered the pasta to go with it. The unique quality of this restaurant is the way how you order your food, you do not need to call out to order instead you just need to put this sign at the table "stop forest stop", the workers will scream "stop forest stop" and a waiter will come to you and if you do not want to order anything, you just need to put the sign "run forest run". I ordered the Onion rings, Shrimp & Salsa Cocktail…Shaken, Not Stirred!, Old Fashioned New England Clam Chowder, "...Of Course We Have Scampi!", Best Ever Popcorn Shrimp and Steamed Clams & Mussels. All of them are really high recomended, the onion rings were served with mayo sauce or something mixed with mayo sauce which taste incredibly good, the shrimp and salsa cocktail had the wine after taste which i love...the sauce that they used was incredibly good and the food itself is fresh. The clam Chowder could have been better though, i expected that it would be better but it just tasted the same and they gave me a small portion for a high price! My main course was the "We have Scampi!" The name was uber cute that i just have to order the food, basically the food is Tender Shrimp sautéed with Capers in Lemon-Garlic Butter, served over a bed of Linguine. I love the lemon garlic butter that they used, it lessen the creamy flavor and makes it more delicious. The shrimps was a good combination with the linguine and i must ask you who haven't tried this to order it! Whats good about the steamed Clams and mussels are the French toast bread, the crisp combined with the clams and mussels makes it so good to eat, i just love their food...The service was really good also, they were open, explained how the serve the food thoroughly and even gave us card tricks!
